Grandpa Turns 70 {Surprise!}

Grandpa turned 70 back on the 15th of this month, but he was in Boise with us the State Tournament,so we didn't get to do a big family party for him on that day.  We did,however, plan a surprise party for him later.  Everyone but Nikki Sue and Fam and Nicholas and Fam was able to come, so it was a lot of people, but a lot of fun, too.
Surprise!  The grand kids were so excited to hide and yell "surprise"!  Not sure if he was really surprised or not,but it was all fun anyway.

Mom, Amber, and Jill (I think) made some awesome cakes and favorites of our dad-red velvet, spice with chocolate frosting, and german chocolate.  And they got all of his favorite candies and put them in the glass jars.  Cute idea!

Amber and I made a spread of his history-cool things we hadn't seen before or for a long time-like his actual mission call, report cards, diplomas, and pictures.

We had him sit in the middle of all of us as we asked him "70 questions".  I don't think we made it to 70, but it was fun to hear his answers.  Someone asked him for some wisdom in only 4 words and he said, "DON'T SPEND MONEY FOOLISHLY."  I thought that was pretty good advice!

Grandpa was telling us a story about him growing up where he had accidentally taken two pieces of sacrament bread and he demonstrated how his dad twisted his hear and told him to never do that again.  He told the kids to always be serious about taking the sacrament and not to be silly or laugh during it.  Poor Spencer, who "got" to demonstrate!!!

It was fun, also, to have Aunt Jane and Uncle Rick, as well as Aunt Sue and Uncle Brett come down for the party!  We sure have a great family and it was fun catching up a little with them and hearing about my cousins' going-ons.

Grandpa let all the littlest cousins help him blow out the candles in each of the 3 cakes.  Korver was a big help! :)

My great parents-looking pretty good for 70 and 66! :)
